After feeling like we’d tried everything and getting to a point where I dreaded taking Diego for a walk, we were recommended Paul at LLC (& thank god!) Diego lived in an almost constant state of over-arousal and frustration, and this often led to him redirecting onto us. He struggled to settle and was very mouthy and unpredictable at times. This behaviour occurred in and outside of the house and made having visitors over and taking him for walks really difficult. Busy environments were an absolute no no for us. He was unable to regulate his emotions and after nearly 2 years of trying we felt quite stuck with what to do next and there wasn’t a lot of trust between us and him. Somehow Paul took our ‘impossible’ situation and made it all seem easy. He showed us how to help Diego practice regulating on his own & how to set clear boundaries, and bit by bit he started to change. It’s taken a lot of work and consistency but after 8 weeks it finally feels like our dog has relaxed for the first time. All of the training we’ve tried to do with him since we got him has really sunk in and I believe a lot of that is down to him being in a much better mental state. And finally getting the freedom on walks he needs to be fulfilled. Since finishing the programme I have taken Diego on so many adventures that I had started to lose hope that we’d ever be able to do. He makes amazing choices on his own, can be neutral around dogs and recalled away without a fuss. His frustration levels are minimal and he’s unrecognisable from the dog I knew 6 months ago. Our walks are now my favourite part of the day. Thank you Paul & Jake for showing us that it doesn’t have to be so difficult, and for helping me trust my dog again. It turns out he was a bit of a sweetheart deep down! For anyone in the pits - it can get better! & it’s amazing how the little changes you make can have such a huge impact with some consistency ☺️

I didn't think Paul would be able to help with our Dalmatian's dog reactivity. We'd worked with 10 other trainers and whilst Buddy had a good understanding of most commands, he always lost it on seeing other dogs and would try to go for them. We were doing on lead walks only, often at 5am and 10pm to minimise the other dogs we would see. I was so sceptical that anyone could help and challenged Paul repeatedly as to what he would do that was any different. In a nutshell, it was setting a lot of boundaries and being a bit tougher, but whilst developing a relationship with the dog. Paul crammed an 8 week course into 6 weeks for us due to time constraints and Buddy is now off lead on most walks (muzzled for safety) and enjoying life so much more. We are learning to trust him to make good decisions and not attack other dogs, and his recall has improved 100x. Paul's confidence, straightforward approach and calmness has made a huge difference. I wish we had found him sooner. I appreciated that he met my scepticism head-on and understood that we'd tried so many approaches that we needed to see clear evidence of progress. He was continually very understanding and patient. I would definitely recommend him for working with reactivity.

Oscar is our two-year-old Vizsla from Ireland. Like many dogs in Paul's program, he struggled with reactivity to other dogs, general anxiety, and stress in everyday situations. He would bark at leaves blowing on walks and react to unfamiliar guests at home by barking and trying to intimidate them. After trying three different trainers using positive reinforcement methods without success, we turned to Loose Lead Club. Oscar's behavior had escalated from simple barking to lunging and growling, and we knew we needed a different approach. The situation affected both our daily life and Oscar's wellbeing. Every walk became stressful, and we were constantly anxious about potential triggers. Oscar became increasingly uncomfortable around unfamiliar people and dogs, leading us to keep him on a short lead, which only added to his frustration. Paul's program transformed our perspective on dog ownership. He taught us to be strong leaders and implemented core behaviors and rules. The foundation of "lead pressure” work, combined with proper collar training, helped us reintroduce Oscar to the world with confidence. We learned about appropriate play time and how to become Oscar's primary source of entertainment. What sets Paul and Loose Lead Club apart is their direct, honest approach to dog training. They balance positive reinforcement with structure, ensuring clear communication between dog and owner. I highly recommend Paul and Loose Lead Club. While the program requires commitment, you'll see quick results and clear progress. It's not an overnight fix, but Paul's structured approach shows you both immediate improvements and long-term potential. Attached is some free shaping we worked on with Oscar around 12 weeks after the program started.
